Yep, that's pretty awful.

Not to imply false equivalency, but I can also think of some pretty racist anti-Chinese ads from the 70s (remember the Calgon "Ancient Chinese Secret" ad, which I'm sure pretty much every Asian American I knew cringed at), and of course, that horrible "Breakfast at Tiffany's" landlord scene which honestly I first saw highlighted in the movie "Dragon."

Eventually we'll reach a dystopian point where all interaction is completely virtual due to a combination of pandemics, robots handling menial tasks, and the staggering energy inefficiency of physical transportation, and our avatars will reflect what we want them to reflect and our physical appearance won't matter. We're very, very, far from that though, and maybe that's a good thing. In the interim, we could all do well by learning more about other people, cultures, foods, because one day we'll be stuck in a foxhole with people who don't look like us, fighting on the same side against machines that collectively woke up one day and realized we were expendable :-).
