No one "threw out any notion" that they couldn't be improved or suggested anything be thrown out (I detest straw man arguments- which is the thing that you should throw out).
Your other point about assuming I don't want to fund or invest in this technology is also a straw man (and just as stupid- for the record, I'm in favor of nuclear power).
But I'm also an engineer, and if you don't learn from failures you'll never improve. The only thing naive is to assume that you can charge forward without accounting for past failures in forward designs. Burying your head in the sand is not prudent.
