I don't have a solution for your problem, but I have advice for men on what not to say when your wife/gf is deep into a story that's being told in- let's just say, a dramatic way, and by that I mean, taking you through the emotional roller coaster along with her that will lead to the conclusion.

Fellas, when you're listening to your lady, you've got to focus and you really can't commit to any of the cardinal sins of communication with your partner:

1. Don't try to fix the problem (you're just supposed to listen and go on the emotional journey with her and have empathy). Well, unless she asks for help with the problem.

2. Especially don't try to do #1 if she's not done conveying to you all the steps of her emotional journey.

3. Except, when going on this emotional journey with her, you can't have a greater emotional reaction than she does. Maintain your Cool Hand Luke disposition.

4. Once you've got the "Cool Hand Luke" face nailed, it's okay to secretly imagine her naked. Just don't look at any of her bits or in any way allow your face to register that you're thinking of her naked.

5. And for Heaven's sake (and trust me on this one), do not request that the next time she broaches this topic with you, that she actually be naked.

6. Do not snicker at the thought of an imaginary skit of #5 playing out in your head.
