I definitely recall being upset after watching The Day After when I was in High School. What I didn't know then was how close it was to reality (see Stanislav Petrov).

One more recent movie that isn't on your list and is somewhat of a different flavor, that I nevertheless think is brilliant is "The Book of Eli."
